The first outing of the season for the Erks 1 team now led by Julian Morvan saw the 7 man team travel to an experienced Stars team.

The first 15 minutes was very up tempo with forward Mark Denchfield leading the scoring. A lack of height and no depth on the bench took its toll as Erks picked up fouls and Stars led at the half by 28 to 18.

A second half switch by the Erks from man to man to zone defence kept the Erks within touch behind steady scoring from Mark Denchfield and Julian Morvan but with 10 minutes to go, Stars opened up a gap and never looked back.

Erks coach noted that a leader's effort from Rela Agbolegbe and points from Mark Denchfield and Wes Fortt gave the Erks a respectable scoreline. With the addition of some offences and some defences, and some work in the recruitment department, this Erks squad has the potential to be amongst the best for the rest of the season.
