Erkenwald's prospective new signings Lee McCarthy, Roy Roof and Chris
Olufeso combined with Erks up and coming star Irfan Hussain to share the
£2,000 first prize at the Sprite NBA Kings of the Court event in Clapham.
Playing, appropriately given the hype behind many of the teams in the
contest, as "Quiet Storm" the foursome won all their pool games and then
breezed through to the semi-finals where they were leading 10-2 in the first
to 16 contest against Triple Emme from Broadwater Farm when the rains came.
Unfortunately the torrential downpour forced the abandonment of the
tournament, so the 4 semi-finalists received £500 each.
The Dagenham based McCarthy who started for National Trophy finalists
Interbasket London in the NBL Conference last season and ex Great Britain
junior and London Tower Roof, also from the Borough head the Erks list of
new signings for the 2001/02 campaign. Hopefully Chris Olufeso, also from
Interbasket London will follow.
