Erks lose to Columbans |
Having lost to Columbans on Saturday night means that the Erks finished their pool games with a 2 - 3 record.
With only West Herts v Kings Lynn and Cambridge v Brunel left to be played, the only one combination of results that will eliminate the Erks from the competition is if both Cambridge and Kings Lynn win their final games. Any other combination means that Erks are almost certainly 3rd.
The scenarios (worked out by Richard "Chims" Williams) are detailed below:
- If Kings Lynn and Cougars win, Erks are eliminated since Erks would tie with Brunel and Kings Lynn on 2-3 and go out on head to head.
- If Brunel and Kings Lynn win, Erks would tie with Cougars and Kings Lynn and finish 3rd on points diff as Erks' pts diff in the 3 way head to head is +11, Cougars is +1 and Kings Lynn is -12.
- If West Herts and Brunel win, Erks definitely finish 3rd, as Erks tie with Cougars and West Herts on 2-3 and we've beaten both of them.
- If West Herts & Cougars win (probably the most likely result), Erks would qualify as Erks tie with West Herts and Brunel and have a positive points difference (of +7) in the 3 way head to head. Unless West Herts beat Brunel by 18+ in the one result missing, we would finish 3rd, otherwise 4th.

New Competition |
Our Founder's Cup adventure begins with 4 pool games followed by knock out stages later in the season. Initially this means one weekend game per month.
The first game is away at Cambridge on 20 October, followed by another away game at Kings Lynn on 16 November. Then we're at home to West Herts on 14/15 December and home to Columbians on 15/16 February. Note that there will be no game in January. Knock out stages follow this.
It is hoped to keep this team as an "old" Erks team as far as possible.
