Despite the Erks worrying about the replacement referee coming straight off the Fire's bench, the visitor's got off to a flyer with point guard Dela using the tough high pick from Ed Bailey to drive to the basket with ease while Dave Churches dominated in the paint.
Erks built upon this success with a combination of great defence and poor shooting from the home team and the visitors cruised into the half time break 38-19 in front.
The second half was a different story however as the Erks disastrously collapsed. Fire's Roland Rat and Youri Gellor doing the damage while the usual outside sharp shooting of Mark Denchfield-Fowler and Twinkle misfired time after time.
Unlike the first half, Fire managed to effectively contain Dave Churches in the second which meant that other Erks had to contribute offensively. Phil Grewock and Steve Herd heeded the call and attempted to up the slack but in the end this wasn't enough as the Erks could only score a poor 10 fourth quarter points total to suffer their second loss of the campaign.
*Please Note* Sonia, Martin or Sarah do not own a washing machine, Pauline is no longer able to do service washes at the launderette. So Martin please be on the lookout for a washing board, mangle and some DAZ before the next game.
Erks scorers: Dave Churches 23, Mark Denchfield-Fowler 8, Steve Herd 8, Jon Bose, Phil Grewock 6, Dela Agbolegbe 6, Twinkle 2, Ed Bailey 2, Matt, Declan McCusker
